Chelsea Davine is a British artist who was born in London and grew up in Lyme Regis on the Dorset coast. After completing her A-levels at Exeter Sixth Form College, Chelsea moved to London in the early 1990s to do her Foundation at Chelsea Art College.
She studied sculpture at the old Hornsey Art College in North London whose alumni include Richard Wilson, Richard Wentworth and Anish Kapoor. In her second year, she completed a three-month Erasmus sculpture programme at Valencia University as well as a two years artist-in-residence stint at The Boat Building Academy, Lyme Regis from 2010/2012.
Chelsea moved to Barcelona shortly after completing her degree enthused by the light and cultural dynamism of the Catalan capital. Chelsea has two children and has been a professional artist working on commission and with various galleries for the last ten years.
Chelsea's inspiration is the small, often unnoticed details which make up everyday life: "Chimney smoke, burnished gold, patterns under peeling paint, lines of desire, the phases of the moon, the coast and changes in the seasons. Chelsea's work has been described as a wonderful juxtaposition of texture and colour, an affirmation of the beauty of life”.
Meridian in Blue forms part of my Meridian series of paintings based on the Hunter’s Moon that rises in Spring.
Winter Fire II captures the beautiful evening sunsets in winter.
