Born and raised in a small village in west Scotland, Nancy Jack graduated from the renowned Glasgow School of Art in 1994 with BA Honours in Fine Art (Drawing and Painting). After travelling the world extensively, in 1998 Nancy returned to the United Kingdom and went on to work for 14 years as an art director and production designer in London for children's television channels Nickelodeon and Children's BBC.
Upon moving to a small whitewashed town on the outskirts of Barcelona in 2012 with her young family, Nancy returned to her painting roots.
This current body of work explores the idea of escape and tranquillity of lazy summer days; of days spent sinking and floating, still and peaceful. These paintings are a reflection of her new home, of the feeling of the sun on your face and warm summer days by the pool and on the beach. They are an escape, a subtle reprieve from busy day-to-day life.
