This painting was born from a storm I witnessed while on holiday at Lake Garda. Despite my deep-seated fear of water, I pushed myself to face the full force of the storm. As thunder rolled and waves crashed, I found myself immersed in the moment where reality and imagination collide.
I’ve always seen paintings form in my mind the instant a flicker of a moment unfolds, and this was no exception. The energy of the storm—the dark, turbulent waves battling against the vibrant flashes of lightning—struck me with a kind of magic I had to capture.
Using thick, sculpted layers of paint, I aimed to recreate the intensity of the storm, each stroke embodying the raw force of the wind, waves, and sky. The contrast between light and dark is central to this piece—vivid, radiant light cutting through the chaos, revealing the beauty in even the wildest moments of nature. This painting seeks to explore that delicate balance where fear and beauty, darkness and light, exist in harmony.
