Olga Rykova

Born in Chișinău, Moldova, and immigrating to Canada in 1990, Olga Rykova has developed a bold and expressive artistic style that seemingly leaps off the canvas. She is widely recognized for her large-scale acrylic paintings, often centered around powerful female figures, capturing the attention of art collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Raised in a creatively rich environment, Olga was deeply influenced by her mother, a Russian Ballet dancer, and her father, a respected publicist in Ukraine with a background in Fine Arts. From the age of 10, she immersed herself in art history, exploring the works of the Renaissance, Baroque, and French Impressionist masters, while also drawing inspiration from Russian and French literature.

A graduate of the Repin University of Fine Arts in Chișinău, Olga stood out as an exemplary student. After relocating to Canada, her traditional works—icons, pastels, and watercolors—quickly caught the eye of the media and established her presence in the art world.

Over time, Olga returned to acrylic painting, first exploring abstraction and later focusing on large-scale portraits. Known for her intuitive sense of color and ever-evolving technique, she paints with emotion and intensity, each brushstroke infused with feeling until her vision fully materializes on the canvas.

Eclectic Gallery is proud to announce its upcoming exhibition, Her Gaze, on view from 27 August to 17 September 2025.

This international group exhibition explores the theme of the feminine gaze through painting and sculpture, reflecting on how women are seen, interpreted, and celebrated in contemporary art. The works brought together highlight strength, sensitivity, and complexity, offering perspectives that are at once personal and universal.

The exhibition features paintings by Kristel Bechara, Roberta Diazzi, Salva Ginard, Ieren Hoff, Victoria Horkan, Zara Muse, Olga Rykova, and Socrates. Each artist brings a distinctive vision, using colour, form, and narrative to reveal facets of identity, resilience, and beauty.

Complementing these works are sculptures by Andrea Serra, Martic, Matteo Maruo, Nimrod Messeg, and Nonos. Their mastery of material and form adds dimensionality, with pieces that convey movement, balance, and contemplation.

Together, these artists create a dialogue that defines Her Gaze — an exhibition that celebrates diversity of vision while uniting around the shared theme of perception and presence.
