Johnny Morant — Solo Exhibition
Morant’s work is distinguished by its lyrical approach to figuration and the built environment. Born in Hong Kong and raised in South West England, Johnny studied in Bristol and Bournemouth before moving to London, where the energy of the city profoundly shaped his artistic direction. Working primarily in oil, his process embraces an intuitive and expressive handling of paint, capturing light, movement, and the shifting boundary between clarity and suggestion.
His recent collection, Allegories of the past, present and future, examines themes of legacy, humanity’s resilience, and our capacity to confront the challenges of tomorrow. As the artist notes, his aim is to “capture the viscosity of light and insecurity of form,” creating works that hover between the real and the imagined.
Johnny Morant has exhibited widely, including a solo presentation at the Saatchi Gallery during the START Art Fair in 2021. His paintings are held in notable private and corporate collections, including Smith & Williamson, Standard Chartered Bank, Prudential plc, and Old Mutual plc. He currently lives and works in West London.
