Inside Artnet News: Caio Locke’s Fantastical Cityscapes

The artist behind The Geometry of Dreams

Artnet News featured British-Brazilian artist Caio Locke in November 2025 in an in-depth article centred on his solo exhibition The Geometry of Dreams at Eclectic Gallery in London. The feature introduced Locke’s highly detailed cityscapes and explored the way his work moves between real urban environments, imagined architecture and visions of possible futures.

Published through the Artnet Gallery Network, the article took the form of an extended conversation with the artist, examining both the conceptual and technical sides of his practice. Locke discussed the exhibition’s connection to his Dreams of Ra and Icarus series, bringing together ideas of mythology, civilisation, climate change and transformation across works spanning different periods of his practice.

The feature also offered insight into how Locke constructs his complex compositions. He explained how some paintings begin with carefully mapped architectural structures, while others develop more intuitively, allowing imagined cities to emerge gradually through drawing and painting. The conversation explored influences ranging from M.C. Escher and Goya to Blade Runner, Van Gogh and M.K. Čiurlionis, reflecting the broad artistic and cultural references behind his visual world.

Eclectic Gallery also formed an important part of the conversation. Asked about his representation, Locke described joining the gallery as a milestone in his career, highlighting the importance of having a supportive environment in which to develop his work. He also reflected on previous projects with the gallery, including his solo presentation at Nobu Hotel London, while discussing the continuing evolution of his practice and future artistic directions.

The Artnet feature presented The Geometry of Dreams as an opportunity to look beyond the visual complexity of Locke’s paintings and understand the ideas, influences and creative processes behind his expanding artistic universe.
