Raul Lara Naranjo was born in Morón de la Frontera in Seville, Spain. He is now based in Marbella after a few years of travelling due to the need for personal growth.
In the words of the artist: “I was trained briefly in painting as an adolescent at an academy in Spain, but I’m primarily a self-taught artist. I have loved creating art since I was a child, spending hours scribbling on any paper that was to hand. Nearly all of my painting knowledge is the result of following my interests, passions, and curiosity, as well as my willingness to learn. My figurative works are born from images transferred to the canvas using various media. I like the idea of starting my painting on the computer with design programs and once the picture is properly modified, I transfer the image onto the canvas. I use big pieces of paper to create crumpled paper reliefs to bring more personality to my work, then I start painting using a glazing technique and variety of materials such as oils, acrylics, pastels and inks. The result is expressive, imaginative and emotive.”
