Beyond the Medium with Manuel Luna
A Journey Through Art and Philosophy
Manuel Luna, born in Seville, Spain in 1970, is a self-taught artist who initially explored art through comics. At the age of 16, he held his first official exhibition of oil paintings and drawings.
Raised in a non-artistic environment, Luna's determination led him to take on various jobs to support his exhibitions and art supplies.
His art is characterized by its realistic and figurative nature, tinged with a rich imagination. This imaginative element adds layers of symbolism, likely influenced by his earlier work in comics.
In 1998, Luna discovered Stoic philosophy, which became a central theme in his life and art. His focus shifted towards transmitting ideas that contribute to societal values. Luna's art explores human perception and the complexities of navigating the world, resulting in a symbolic bestiary that permeates his work.
Tragedy struck when Luna lost his parents in a car accident, infusing his art with a profound appreciation for life and a positive philosophical outlook.
Luna further refined his skills with formal training at the Barcelona Art Academy and intensive courses with renowned artists.
As an educator, Luna founded "Craneo creación" in 2010, a creative space that has hosted leading realist artists. He also collaborated with prominent Spanish realism groups, including the GRECO group, sponsored by
.Recent years have seen Luna delve into the intersection of neuroscience and art, leading to the concept of "NEUROART." He explores the role of the brain in the creative process and offers courses to share his insights.
