Following their early exposure to the arts, the sisters spent over a decade apart, each independently honing their artistic talents. They explored various forms of expression, from painting and photography to lino printing. It was during this period of individual growth and exploration that their unique artistic voices emerged.

 

 

The sisters eventually reunited and decided to merge their talents. They embarked on a collaborative journey that led to the birth of NONOS. The name itself remains shrouded in mystery, adding an air of intrigue to their work. Their first project together involved transforming their experiences into visual narratives, which are now proudly displayed in the Klosterneuburg Abbey Museum.

 

 

NONOS quickly gained recognition in the art world. In 2018, one of their artworks was acquired by a museum, marking the beginning of their successful exhibitions. Their innovative lighting display graced the Leopold Hall at Klosterneuburg Abbey. In 2019, they exhibited their works at the prestigious Venice Biennale in both the Palazzo Mora and the Giardini Della Marinaressa.

 

 

Today, Mercedes and Franziska Welte continue their artistic journey from the picturesque Wellenstein residence in Lochau, overlooking Lake Constance, affectionately referred to as the "Castle." This enchanting location serves as an endless source of inspiration for their diverse and ever-evolving creative expressions.
