Beyond the Medium with Marion Cadet

A Journey in Monochrome Expressions
Born in 1989 in the heart of Paris, Marion Cadent's artistic journey has been nothing short of remarkable. While her earliest years were marked by a passion for painting, Cadent ventured into the world of architecture, only to find herself irresistibly drawn back to her true love—art.

After graduating from the Versailles Architectural School in 2013, Marion Cadent made a pivotal decision to pursue her first passion professionally. Her commitment and talent soon caught the eye of the art world, leading to a significant recognition. In November 2014, she was selected to attend the "Salon des Artistes Français" at the prestigious Grand Palais in Paris, where her peers awarded her the bronze medal—a testament to her burgeoning artistic prowess.

Marion Cadent's art is a captivating exploration of contemporary femininity, captured primarily in black and white. Her monochrome artworks emphasize the stark contrast between dark strokes on a luminous canvas, expressing fleeting yet intense emotions. The raw technique employed in her works reveals both a sketched and photographic quality, challenging the very essence of painting as a snapshot of time.

Her creative process involves translating the personalities of her models from photo shoots—whether they be amateurs, professionals, or public domain sources—into an intimate portrayal of inner emotions. She unveils these inner worlds with broad, unrefined brushstrokes, eschewing dilution. Remarkably, detail remains an integral aspect of her canvases, striking a balance between subject and her unique sensibility.

Marion Cadent's signature lies in her exclusive use of black oil paint, applied in broad, dense, or subtle strokes. Her brush movements sculpt shadows, absorb and slow down light, creating a striking contrast with the brilliance of emptiness. The result is a fusion of precise details with raw technique, capturing the essence of the instantaneous in a world dominated by digital and virtual art.

Today, Marion Cadent is an emerging force in contemporary art in France and beyond. Her works are exhibited in various locations, from Lyon, Le Touquet, Honfleur, and St-Jean-de-Luz in France, to London in England, and even in the United States, specifically Wisconsin. Her art has also made its mark in international cities like Brussels, Geneva, Lausanne, Munich, New York, Miami, and Osaka.

Marion Cadent is not just an artist; she's also a compassionate contributor to various charitable causes. Her artwork has been used to support endeavors like the search for a COVID-19 vaccine, medical research against childhood cancer, and the fight against child abuse and poverty.
